The rites begin on Palm Sunday, evoking the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
At 10:00 am, according to the tradition, the “confrati” of the Holy Passion Confraternity represent the moment when Jesus gets to the holy city, at Papardura Sanctuary. One of the “confrati” gets on a donkey representing Jesus. The twelve companions come first and they represent the apostles holding some olive branches. The procession goes back up the road leading into the town. It is welcomed by other confraternity representations and by the band, all together with a large number of believers.
